Varanasi: BJP has once again fielded Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the important Varanasi seat. To further consolidate its position as a powerful force in Indian politics, the BJP is expected to win an overwhelming majority in the next elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking command from Varanasi.
The politically important state Uttar Pradesh sends 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, the highest in the country. Voting will be held in the state in seven phases from April 19. The result will be declared on June 4. BJP is contesting on maximum seats in NDA.
While the Congress will field its candidates in 17 constituencies, the remaining 63 seats will be distributed between the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party and other members of the opposition’s India Bloc. In such a situation, there are many such names of Uttar Pradesh on which everyone’s eyes are on.
Narendra Modi

Rajnath Singh
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is going to contest elections again from his seat in Lucknow. His name was in the first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee earlier held the prestigious seat of Lucknow, from where Rajnath Singh is contesting for the third time. Ravidas Mehrotra, the sitting MLA from Lucknow Central, has been made the candidate by Samajwadi Party from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.
Smriti Irani
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on March 2 unveiled its first list of 195 candidates, according to which Union Minister Smriti Irani is the party’s candidate from Amethi for the third consecutive time. Smriti Irani won this seat, which was previously a Congress stronghold, by defeating Rahul Gandhi in 2019.
Dimple yadav
Samajwadi Party has decided to retain sitting MP Dimple Yadav as its candidate from Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. In the 2022 by-election, Dimple Yadav, wife of party leader Akhilesh Yadav, won the seat by a margin of over 2.8 lakh votes. Earlier this seat was held by Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, who died on October 10 the same year. This seat is considered a stronghold for the party.
Jitin Prasada
BJP has made Uttar Pradesh minister Jitin Prasad, who separated from Congress two years ago, its candidate from Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat, replacing Varun Gandhi. For more than 20 years, either Varun Gandhi or his mother Maneka Gandhi have served as representatives of Pilibhit. Prasad, who served as a minister twice in the Manmohan Singh-led Congress government and was considered one of Rahul Gandhi’s closest aides, had joined the BJP. At present he is also a minister in the UP government.
Dharmendra Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav’s cousin Dharmendra Yadav is the candidate from Samajwadi Party stronghold Azamgarh in the Lok Sabha elections. Popular Bhojpuri singer-actor Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as “Nirahua”, was the BJP candidate from Azamgarh in the 2022 by-election, where Dharmendra Yadav lost. He is ready to contest elections against the singer once again.
