Annapurna Model Prerna Canteen Inaugurated at Baheri Tehsil Campus

Bareilly: An Annapurna Model Prerna Canteen, to be operated by women members of self-help groups, was inaugurated at the Baheri tehsil campus as part of efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Bareilly District Magistrate Avinash Singh and Chief Development Officer Devyani formally inaugurated the canteen by cutting the ribbon. The initiative has been launched under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and will be managed by women from six self-help groups affiliated with the CLF Azad Prerna Mahila Sankul Sangh.

The initiative aims to provide rural women with opportunities for self-employment and sustainable livelihoods while promoting the concept of an economically self-reliant woman and an empowered village.

Speaking at the inauguration, the District Magistrate said the Prerna Canteen, launched under the Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative, would provide clean, nutritious and affordable food while creating opportunities for women to achieve financial independence.

Trained members of the self-help groups have been entrusted with the complete operation of the canteen. Hundreds of people visit the tehsil campus every day for official work, and the facility will provide them with quality meals, tea and snacks at reasonable prices within the premises.

The income generated through the canteen will go directly to the accounts of the participating self-help group members, helping strengthen their financial independence and household livelihoods.
