Lucknow: Continuous efforts by A K Sharma have played a key role in advancing the proposed MEMU train service between Doharighat and Odihar, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the region’s residents.
During his visit to Mau district on the night of May 1, the minister conducted an on-site inspection of the Doharighat Railway Station and reviewed the ongoing arrangements with railway and administrative officials.
Speaking on the occasion, A.K. Sharma said the MEMU train service would open new avenues of development for lakhs of people in the region by making travel easier, more accessible and affordable.
The minister stated that sustained efforts on his part, along with positive cooperation from the Central Government, helped pave the way for the announcement of MEMU train operations from Doharighat to Katihar. He expressed gratitude to Narendra Modi and Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support, saying the project would provide fresh momentum to the development of the Purvanchal region.

He further noted that the new rail service would not only improve passenger convenience but also generate new opportunities in trade, education and employment, thereby strengthening the local economy. According to him, the initiative represents an important step towards balanced regional development.
A large number of local residents present during the programme warmly welcomed the minister and expressed gratitude for what they described as a historic achievement. Considerable enthusiasm was witnessed among the people regarding the proposed rail service.
