Major Boost for UP Food Exporters as R-FRAC Lucknow Gets APEDA-Recognised Laboratory Status

Exporters Can Now Access Reliable Quality Testing Facilities Within Uttar Pradesh, Reducing Dependence on Laboratories in Other States

Lucknow: In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh’s food processing and agricultural export sectors, the Regional Food Research and Analysis Centre (R-FRAC), Lucknow, has been included in the list of laboratories recognised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

The development, under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, will enable food and agricultural product exporters in the state to obtain essential quality testing services and reports within Uttar Pradesh, eliminating the need to depend on laboratories in other states.

Maurya described the recognition as an important milestone for the state’s food processing industry and agricultural exports. He said the government was committed to providing better facilities to farmers, entrepreneurs and exporters. The expansion of modern testing infrastructure would help ensure product quality, address exporters’ difficulties and strengthen the international market presence of Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural and processed food products.

Under the leadership of B.L. Meena, Chairman of the Board of Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department, the state has been working to strengthen food quality testing infrastructure and promote exports.

With its inclusion in APEDA’s recognised laboratory list, R-FRAC will now provide exporters with the necessary testing facilities and reports for their products. This is expected to reduce testing time, simplify export procedures and make it easier for businesses to meet export-related quality requirements.

Additional Chief Secretary B.L. Meena has appealed to exporters across the state to utilise the newly recognised laboratory for the required testing and certification-related reports of their export products.

He has also directed that information about the facility be widely circulated among exporters through district magistrates, divisional commissioners and chief development officers to ensure that a maximum number of businesses benefit from it.

The state government continues to focus on strengthening food processing industries, promoting quality-driven production, expanding modern laboratory infrastructure and increasing agricultural exports.

The recognition of R-FRAC, Lucknow, by APEDA is expected to improve access to quality testing services for exporters while supporting Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to emerge as a leading destination for agricultural and food processing exports.
