DGCA-approved Medium Drone Pilot Training for 150-kg Category Launched; Women Trainees Receive Certificates
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Minister J.P.S. Rathore on Monday inaugurated a digital library, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a digital conference hall at the Institute of Cooperative and Corporate Management Research and Training (ICCMRT), Lucknow. The facilities are aimed at strengthening students’ academic development, technical skills and overall growth.
During a special event at the institute, the minister also formally launched DGCA-approved medium-category drone pilot training for drones weighing up to 150 kg. He distributed training certificates to women associated with Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (M-PACS) who had completed drone pilot training at ICCMRT.
Addressing students, Rathore said that technology and innovation were shaping the modern world, making proficiency in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools essential for young people. He urged students to complement academic knowledge with practical understanding, positive thinking and the ability to make quick and accurate decisions. He also cautioned against the misuse of technology and called for deploying AI and digital resources for nation-building and social welfare.
Highlighting the importance of drone training, the minister said ICCMRT had previously trained 747 women under its drone pilot programme for drones weighing up to 25 kg. With DGCA approval for training in the 150-kg medium-drone category, the institute would now be able to create wider opportunities for employment and self-reliance among youth and women. Personnel from government departments, including the police, fire services, CRPF and RPF, would also be able to benefit from advanced technical training.
He further informed that, in the first phase, one Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in each divisional district was being provided with a drone and an e-rickshaw. The initiative would subsequently be expanded to more districts and tehsils to strengthen agricultural management and boost the rural economy.

Rathore also announced that ICCMRT had received affiliation from Tribhuvan Sahkari University, Anand, Gujarat. Under this affiliation, the institute is preparing to introduce specialised degree programmes, including MBA in Cooperative Management, MBA in Agriculture, and BBA in Cooperative and Finance, along with more than 50 certificate courses.
He said these programmes would enhance the professional capabilities and operational efficiency of personnel working in the cooperative sector and banking industry.
Principal Secretary, Cooperation, Ajay Kumar Shukla, encouraged students to embrace emerging technologies and contribute to nation-building. Cooperation Commissioner and Registrar Kumar Prashant appreciated the institute’s academic achievements and wished students success in their future endeavours.
ICCMRT Director Rajiv Yadav presented a report highlighting the institute’s progress and achievements.
Among those present were Additional Cooperation Commissioner and Additional Registrar (Administration) Anil Kumar Singh, PCF Managing Director Neeraj Shukla, Allahabad High Court advocate Shailendra Sharma ‘Atal’, officials of various cooperative institutions, faculty members and a large number of students.
