Gonda Launches Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Month 2026 with Rally

Gonda: Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Ajit Kumar Rajak formally inaugurated Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Month 2026 in Gonda on November 1, with a rally aimed at encouraging citizens to follow traffic rules and adopt safe road practices.

The awareness rally, flagged off by the Additional SP (East) from Ambedkar Chowk, witnessed participation from traffic police personnel, Home Guards, PRD personnel, school students and NCC cadets. The rally passed through major city routes and concluded at Gurunanak Chowk.

During the rally, participants carried banners and raised slogans highlighting road safety measures and the importance of responsible driving.

Addressing the gathering, motorists and students after the rally, Rajak said following traffic rules was the responsibility of every citizen. He emphasised that the most effective way to reduce road accidents was for individuals to follow traffic regulations themselves and encourage others to do the same.

He said November is observed as Traffic Month across Uttar Pradesh. During the campaign, Gonda Police will organise awareness programmes, publicity drives, seminars, discussions in schools and colleges, street plays, poster competitions and public outreach activities. Special emphasis will be placed on sensitising young people to road safety.

The police highlighted several essential traffic safety guidelines, including avoiding mobile phones and earphones while driving, prohibiting minors from driving, wearing helmets for both two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers, and using seat belts in four-wheelers.

Motorists were also advised against overloading vehicles, overspeeding, drunk driving and performing stunts on roads. Using indicators while turning, ensuring proper parking, installing reflective tapes on vehicles and giving priority to ambulances and fire brigade vehicles were among the other instructions.

Citizens were also urged to assist accident victims and immediately report emergencies by dialling 112.

Rajak clarified that the objective of the campaign was not merely to issue traffic challans but to develop awareness and discipline among road users. Alongside public awareness initiatives, enforcement action will continue against traffic violations, encroachments and illegal parking.

Circle Officer (City) Yogendra Singh, the Circle Officer (Traffic), the Traffic In-charge, Home Guards, PRD personnel, school students and NCC cadets were present at the inauguration.

The month-long initiative aims to promote responsible driving habits and strengthen road safety awareness across Gonda district.
