NCC cadets and alumni distribute new clothes, sweets and gifts among underprivileged families and children in a local slum
Lucknow: The 64 UP Battalion NCC unit of the University of Lucknow organised a special clothes distribution drive in a local slum on Sunday to celebrate Diwali with underprivileged families and children.
The initiative was conducted under the Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) activities of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), under the guidance of Associate NCC Officer Lieutenant (Dr) Rajnish Kumar Yadav.
As part of the campaign, NCC cadets reached out to economically disadvantaged families and distributed new clothes, sweets and gifts, sharing the festive spirit with those who may otherwise have limited opportunities to celebrate the occasion.
A special highlight of the initiative was the active participation of senior former cadets and alumni of the battalion. They contributed generously to the clothes donation drive and joined the current cadets in interacting with residents and celebrating the festival together, promoting social harmony and community bonding.
Appreciating the efforts of the cadets and former students, Lieutenant (Dr) Rajnish Kumar Yadav said the true message of Diwali was to bring light and smiles into the lives of others by helping those facing hardship.

He emphasised that the NCC aims to develop not only military discipline among young people but also a spirit of selfless service and social responsibility.
Such initiatives, he said, help cadets connect with ground realities and inspire them to become compassionate and responsible citizens.
At the conclusion of the programme, residents of the locality expressed their gratitude to the NCC battalion and the University of Lucknow administration for the initiative.
Several NCC cadets and battalion members participated in the campaign.
