Lucknow: Students at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will now have the opportunity to learn Japanese and German, opening up new avenues for international employment alongside their academic qualifications. The university has launched the initiative through an orientation programme organised by its Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS).
An expert session on both languages was held on Saturday, during which Rizwan Khan Warsi introduced students to common words, everyday expressions and conversational sentences in Japanese and German. Students from BTech, MTech, MBA, BBA and BPharma programmes participated in the session and showed keen interest in learning the languages.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Professor JP Pandey and the leadership of CAS Director Professor SP Shukla. The university also plans to conduct five days of demo classes and organise further sessions based on students’ interest.
According to Dean of Academics Dr Anuj Kumar Sharma, knowledge of foreign languages can improve students’ employment prospects, particularly as Japan and Germany have a significant presence in the global technology and industrial sectors.

The initiative aims to equip students with skills beyond their regular degrees and prepare them for opportunities in international companies.
Dr AV Ullas, Dr Saurabh Mishra and Anurag Namdev coordinated the programme.
