Pratapgarh: A farmers’ workshop was organised by the Horticulture Department under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission and the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ Micro-Irrigation Scheme for 2026-27, providing farmers with technical information on modern farming and horticulture practices.
The programme was held at Sai Palace, where Deputy Director Agriculture Ashwini Kumar Singh, Soil Conservation Officer Chaman Singh, District Horticulture Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma and Senior Scientist at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Aithu Kalakankar, Mahendra Singh jointly inaugurated the session by lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati.
District Horticulture Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma welcomed the guests and participating farmers and briefed them about various departmental schemes. He encouraged farmers to make greater use of horticulture schemes to enhance their agricultural income.
Soil Conservation Officer Chaman Singh explained methods for maintaining soil health, while Senior Scientist Mahendra Singh discussed horticultural crops, intensive horticulture practices and the management of diseases affecting such crops.
Deputy Director Agriculture Ashwini Kumar Singh provided information about schemes and initiatives being implemented by the Agriculture Department and urged farmers to obtain crop insurance coverage.
Horticulture Inspector Mohammad Fazil conducted the programme and explained the Micro-Irrigation Scheme in detail. Farmers were also briefed about the potato subsidy scheme and the Bhamashah Price Stabilisation Fund Scheme.
Around 200 farmers participated in the workshop and received technical guidance on modern agricultural and horticultural practices. The programme concluded with District Horticulture Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma expressing gratitude to the participating farmers and guests.
