Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan chaired a meeting with district-level officials at the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday to review preparations for programmes planned to mark Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
The meeting focused on the programme schedule and departmental responsibilities. The District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that all events are conducted in a dignified, orderly and well-coordinated manner, with preparations completed ahead of October 2.
The Health Department was asked to arrange fruit distribution at the District Hospital and District Women’s Hospital, while the Supply Department will organise the distribution of fruits and medicines at the Leprosy Service Centre. The municipal authority will undertake cleaning of statues and memorials and arrange lime sprinkling. A programme to honour freedom fighters will also be organised.
The Khadi and Village Industries Department, Industries Department and Lead District Manager will set up exhibitions. A Gandhi Jayanti programme will also be held at the district jail, while liquor shops will remain closed on the designated day.
The District Magistrate also directed departments to conduct a special cleanliness campaign across the district. The Panchayati Raj Department will undertake extensive cleaning in rural areas, while the municipality will carry out sanitation drives in urban areas and slum settlements.
Officials were instructed to discharge their assigned responsibilities seriously and maintain close coordination to prevent any inconvenience during the celebrations. The meeting was attended by City Magistrate Pankaj Verma, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashok Kumar Gupta, District Development Officer Aditya Tiwari and other senior district officials.
