Raebareli: Prof. (Dr) Amita Jain has completed one year as Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raebareli, marking a period of expansion in medical services, academic programmes, patient-centred facilities and institutional development. She assumed charge of the institute on September 22, 2025.
During the past year, several specialised and super-speciality services were strengthened, while new facilities including Gastroenterology, Pain Medicine, a TB ward, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Pulmonary Medicine and Yellow Fever vaccination were introduced. The institute also focused on adopting advanced medical technologies and treatment practices, supported by workshops and skill-based training programmes.
Digital healthcare initiatives such as e-Sanjeevani and Tele-MANAS were expanded to improve access to remote and mental healthcare services. Academic and training opportunities were strengthened across MBBS, nursing, paramedical, postgraduate, super-speciality and PhD programmes.
The institute also held its first convocation, where the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, awarded degrees to 48 MBBS and 25 postgraduate students.
Workshops on robotic hands-on training, research methodologies, BHISHM Cube, electromyography and trauma surgery further enhanced academic and professional capabilities.
Quality improvement remained another focus, with AIIMS Raebareli obtaining NABL and NABH entry-level accreditation. Infrastructure development included improvements in parking, cleanliness, green spaces and campus lighting, besides facilities such as gyms, residential quarters, a shopping complex and hostels.
Several dignitaries, including Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Cabinet Minister Dr Manoj Kumar Pandey, also visited the institute during the year.
Dr Jain said AIIMS Raebareli remains committed to patient-centred healthcare, medical excellence, academic advancement, digital health and quality improvement. She added that the institute is strengthening research and aims to enable its students to achieve recognition at both national and international levels.
