Gonda: Gonda’s promising taekwondo player and Class 10 student of St. Xavier Senior Secondary School, Gonda, Ankur Arya has been selected to compete in the National CBSE Taekwondo Championship. The national-level competition will be held from September 19 to 24, 2026, at Bal Progressive School in Panipat, Haryana. Ankur will compete in the Under-45 kg weight category.
A resident of Ranipurwa, Gonda, Ankur recently won a gold medal at the CBSE East Zone Taekwondo Cluster Championship in Bhadohi. He secured the top position after winning six consecutive bouts, earning selection for the national competition on the strength of his performance.
His selection has brought cheer to St. Xavier Senior Secondary School. School manager Suzan Dutta and secretary Sumit Dutta congratulated Ankur and wished him success. The school management also honoured him with an incentive of ₹5,000 and a tracksuit.
Principal Payal Dubey, teachers and the sports department extended their best wishes to Ankur for the national championship.
Ankur’s coach, Dr Pratyush Raj, described him as a talented and hardworking athlete who has consistently performed well in various competitions. He said Ankur’s selection at the national level was the result of his hard work, discipline and regular practice.
Ankur’s parents, Hridesh Kumar Arya and Sangeeta Arya, expressed happiness over his achievement and said they were proud of their son. The school community and sports enthusiasts in Gonda also wished him success at the national championship.
