Commenting on the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said the introduction of the i5 Long Wheelbase marked an important milestone in the company’s journey of offering India-focused long-wheelbase and electric vehicles.

He said the model, BMW India’s first locally produced electric sedan, reflected the company’s expanding local manufacturing capabilities and strengthened its commitment to sustainable mobility. According to Brar, the sedan combines striking exterior design with a serene and luxurious cabin, bridging dynamic driving pleasure and first-class chauffeur-driven comfort.

Segment-Leading Dimensions and Premium Design

Measuring 5,175 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height, the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase features a 3,105 mm wheelbase. BMW positions it as the largest car in its segment, offering a spacious cabin with an emphasis on rear-seat comfort.

The exterior features BMW’s signature kidney grille, complemented by BMW Iconic Glow Contour Line lighting. Black side skirts, flush-mounted door handles, a five-pattern welcome carpet light and 20-inch M alloy wheels enhance its sporty appearance.

Adaptive LED headlights with BMW’s signature four-eye design and vertical lighting elements add to the sedan’s distinctive visual identity.

Inside, the BMW Curved Display integrates a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel with a 14.9-inch control display. The illuminated BMW Interaction Bar, Sky Lounge Panoramic Glass Sunroof and ambient LED lighting contribute to the premium cabin experience.

The Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System is designed to deliver an immersive audio experience for occupants.

Exclusive First Edition Sells Out Before Launch

To mark the arrival of the i5 Long Wheelbase in India, BMW introduced a limited First Edition restricted to 99 customers. All units were sold out before the official launch.

The special edition includes a dedicated Rear Seat Entertainment Package with a tablet and tablet holder. BMW Individual Silver Bronze accents, Fine-Line Open-Pored Fine-Wood trim and Silver Bronze inlays further distinguish the cabin.

A ‘FIRST EDITION’ laser engraving on the dashboard trim highlights the model’s exclusivity. The First Edition is offered in Carbon Black Metallic exterior paint with Titanium Bronze exterior accents.

Performance and Electric Range

Powered by an electric drivetrain, the BMW i5 eDrive35L accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 195 km/h. It produces 268 hp and 410 Nm of maximum torque.

The sedan is equipped with an 81.6 kWh high-voltage battery and offers a claimed MIDC-certified driving range of up to 669 kilometres.

The combination of long driving range, performance and premium cabin space is expected to appeal to buyers seeking a luxury electric sedan suitable for both daily commuting and long-distance travel.

Engineered for Indian Road Conditions

BMW has equipped the i5 Long Wheelbase with features aimed at enhancing comfort and stability on Indian roads. These include Adaptive Rear-Axle Air Suspension and increased ground clearance.

The comfort suspension is designed to minimise body roll while delivering a plush ride. BMW says the setup balances sporty driving dynamics with premium ride comfort across varying road conditions.

With local production, a long-wheelbase design, electric powertrain and strong emphasis on rear-seat luxury, the BMW i5 Long Wheelbase marks a new chapter in the company’s India-focused premium electric vehicle portfolio.
