Kargil: The Indian Army organised the Capt Vikram Batra Cricket Cup at Capt Saurabh Kalia Cricket Stadium, Kaksar, as part of its continued efforts to promote sports, youth engagement and a spirit of camaraderie in the border areas.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from four girls’ teams representing Government High School Kaksar, Government High School Kharboo, Government Higher Secondary School Chanigund and Government Higher Secondary School Budgam.
Government High School Kaksar emerged as the winner, while Government Higher Secondary School Badgam secured the runner-up position. Cash rewards were presented to the winner, runner-up and participating teams in recognition of their enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
The Chief Guest encouraged the young participants for their dedication and sporting spirit.
The tournament also served as a meaningful tribute to the valour and supreme sacrifice of Captain Vikram Batra and other martyrs. The initiative was widely appreciated as an important step by the Indian Army towards encouraging young talent, particularly girls, and providing opportunities for youth in the border areas to participate in sports and develop confidence, discipline and teamwork.
