Lucknow: A grand felicitation ceremony was organised at the Uttar Pradesh headquarters of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) to welcome Colonel Brahmpal Tomar, state president of the party’s Ex-Servicemen Cell and newly appointed state office in-charge.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of RLD Uttar Pradesh president Aishwarya Raj Singh. Party office-bearers and workers gave Colonel Tomar a warm welcome with drums and traditional fanfare. Workers greeted him with flower garlands and angavastram, expressing their support for his new responsibility.
Before the ceremony, Colonel Tomar paid floral tribute at the statue of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Chaudhary Charan Singh, regarded by the party as a champion of farmers, installed on the premises of the state headquarters.
Addressing the gathering, Aishwarya Raj Singh said the party’s collective objective was to strengthen and expand the RLD’s organisational base across Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of national president and Union Minister Chaudhary Jayant Singh.
He said every section of society had an important role to play in strengthening the party and called upon workers to remain united and work to take the ideology and principles of Chaudhary Charan Singh to people across the state.
Congratulating Colonel Brahmpal Tomar on his appointment, Singh said his experience and organisational capabilities would benefit the party and contribute to strengthening its state-level structure.
Chandrabali Yadav, a member of the RLD Central Parliamentary Board, and working state president Anupam Mishra also welcomed Colonel Tomar. They described his appointment as an important step towards making the organisation more effective and stronger.
The leaders said Colonel Tomar’s military background and organisational experience would prove valuable for the party. His expertise and working capabilities, they added, would help the state organisation and provide greater momentum to party programmes and activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Brahmpal Tomar expressed gratitude to the state leadership and the party’s senior leadership for entrusting him with the new responsibility. He said he would discharge his duties with complete sincerity, honesty and dedication.
Tomar said the support, blessings and affection extended by party office-bearers and workers had given him renewed energy. He assured the gathering that he would make every possible effort to use this energy to take the RLD to greater heights in Uttar Pradesh.
During the event, several former servicemen who had arrived from Basti were formally welcomed into the party and given primary membership. They included Captain Dinesh Singh, Subedar Uday Narayan, Subedar Major Omkar Pandey, former servicemen Manoj Yadav, Santosh Patel and Rashid Saifi.
The programme was jointly conducted by Chaudhary Ram Singh Patel, regional president of the RLD’s Awadh region, and Vikas Singh Bhainsa.
A large number of senior party leaders, office-bearers of various organisational cells and workers attended the ceremony and extended their greetings to Colonel Tomar.
