Bareilly: The Department of Law at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, conducted the Pre-PhD presentations of two research scholars, Anjali and Salim Ahmad, focusing on contemporary issues in child custody law and institutional accountability.
The presentations were attended by Prof. A.K. Singh and Dr. Mohammad Rashid of K.G. College, Moradabad, along with Dean and Head of the Faculty of Law and Research Coordinator Prof. Amit Singh, Prof. V.K. Gupta, Prof. Arun Prakash Singh and Prof. Awadhesh Pandey. The visiting academics were welcomed with plants and shawls.
The experts offered suggestions to both scholars aimed at strengthening their research and improving their work ahead of the final submission.
Anjali Presents Research on Child Custody Law
The first presentation was delivered by research scholar Anjali on “A Critical Analysis of Child Custody under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890 with Special Reference to Bareilly Region.”
Her research examines child guardianship laws across different religions and presents a comparative analysis of Indian laws governing legal guardianship and corresponding provisions in various countries.
The study places particular emphasis on the best interests of the child and proposes measures for improving and implementing existing legal provisions relating to child custody and guardianship. Her research is being conducted under the supervision of Prof. A.K. Singh at K.G. College, Moradabad.
Salim Ahmad Examines Lokpal Accountability
The second presentation was delivered by research scholar Salim Ahmad on “Lokpal Mechanism in India and Its Accountability: A Critical Study.”
His research examines the legal status of the Lokpal, its financial autonomy, timely appointment, independent investigation mechanisms, and safeguards for whistleblowers and witnesses.
The scholar put forward several recommendations aimed at strengthening the institutional independence and effectiveness of the Lokpal mechanism. His research is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Rashid.
The entire programme was conducted under the direction of Prof. Amit Singh.
Faculty members Dr. Shahnaz Akhtar, Dr. Lakshmi Devi, Dr. Naimuddin, Preksha Singh, Dr. Nidhi Shankar, Dr. Preeti Verma and Dr. Sachin Rastogi, along with research scholars Shailendra, Sachin Kumar and Tapeshwari Devi, LLM students and other research scholars and staff members, including Gulab Singh, Ram Vachan and Mohit, were present.
The Pre-PhD presentations provided the researchers with an opportunity to receive academic feedback and expert guidance before moving towards the final stage of their doctoral research.
