Lucknow: Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohammad Mushtaq inspected Bijnor Police Station on Monday and reviewed arrangements related to crime control, law and order, cleanliness and police station management. During the visit, he also inaugurated the newly constructed Mission Shakti Centre on the police station premises.
The DCP reached the police station at around 3:15 pm and inspected official records, the malkhana, cleanliness arrangements and other facilities. He directed officers and personnel to improve the overall functioning of the police station and adopt effective policing measures to strengthen crime prevention and control.
Focus on Police Station Management
Mushtaq directed officials to properly identify all vehicles parked on the police station premises and maintain separate files for each vehicle. He also ordered the disposal of abandoned and unusable vehicles and material as per prescribed rules.
Emphasising cleanliness and better surroundings, he instructed personnel to ensure regular cleaning, beautification and plantation within the premises and develop green areas wherever possible.
The DCP also stressed the need for adequate exercise facilities for police personnel, keeping their physical and mental well-being in mind.
He directed officials to identify dilapidated structures for action according to rules and coordinate with the local civic body to address drainage-related problems.
Crime Prevention and Investigation
The DCP instructed police personnel to intensify verification of active criminals in the area and initiate preventive action against them. Special attention was directed towards monitoring the activities of identified offenders.
He also ordered regular reviews of efforts being made by teams working to trace and recover missing persons.
Emphasising quality investigation, Mushtaq directed officers to ensure the timely disposal of pending cases, record evidence and witness statements without delay and fix responsibility in cases where investigations are unnecessarily prolonged.
He also called for increased patrolling in areas along the police station’s boundaries and better coordination with neighbouring police stations and district police units.
CCTV and Technology to Be Strengthened
The DCP directed officials to ensure the availability and functioning of CCTV cameras at markets and other sensitive locations. He also stressed the effective use of technological resources in policing and crime prevention.
He instructed officers to maintain cleanliness in the police mess and regularly monitor the quality of food being served to personnel.
Public grievance redressal was another key focus of the inspection. Mushtaq directed police personnel to behave courteously with complainants and ensure that their grievances are addressed promptly.
Special Focus on Women’s Safety
The DCP directed officers to make Mission Shakti and the Anti-Romeo campaign more effective and ensure that women and girls receive information about available safety mechanisms and support services.
He also stressed the fair and time-bound disposal of complaints received through the IGRS grievance redressal system.
During the inspection, Mushtaq praised Woman Sub-Inspector Aradhana Verma, who is in charge of the Mission Shakti Centre, for her work. In recognition of her efforts, he announced a ₹5,000 cash reward for her.
The inspection focused on strengthening policing, improving police station infrastructure, ensuring timely investigations and making women’s safety and public grievance redressal more effective in the Bijnor area.
