Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister AK Sharma ordered strict action against officials over delays in replacing burnt transformers and maintaining uninterrupted power supply during a high-level review meeting.
Sharma directed officials to ensure timely replacement of transformers and warned that negligence affecting consumers would not be tolerated. The Executive Engineer of Ghazipur’s Gahmar area was ordered to be suspended after a transformer remained unreplaced for 12 days. The Superintending Engineer was warned of strict action if such lapses recur.
In Deoria, the Chief Engineer, Gorakhpur-II, was ordered to receive an adverse entry after officials failed to satisfactorily explain why a transformer in Lar had remained damaged for 10 days.
Sharma also directed officials to remove personnel who fail to perform their duties effectively, with particular emphasis on improving electricity services in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Managing Director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited was instructed to accelerate grievance redressal.
Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra, Sharma ordered special vigilance along all pilgrimage routes. Officials were asked to immediately address loose wires, leaning electricity poles, exposed equipment and other potential hazards while ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
Additional Chief Secretary Energy Ashish Goyal, Managing Director Nitish Kumar, Mayur Maheshwari and other senior officials attended the meeting, while officials from across the state participated virtually.
