AK Sharma Launches 5-MW Solar Park in Mau on Kalpnath Rai’s Death Anniversary

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a 5-MW solar power park in Mau on the death anniversary of former Union minister Kalpnath Rai. He also unveiled Rai’s statue and announced that the solar park would be named after him.

The project, being developed by Delhi-based Nexgen Energy Pvt Ltd at an estimated cost of ₹16 crore, is expected to help supply clean and affordable electricity to around 5,000 households while generating local employment.

Addressing nearly 50,000 people, Sharma said Mau was moving towards development after becoming free from the influence of mafias. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure work in roads, electricity, transport, railways and renewable energy.

Sharma also made a political statement, saying he would work as a supporter if Kalpnath Rai’s son, Siddharth Rai, contested an election. Referring to his own political future, he said its decision would be taken either by Mahadev or Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Siddharth Rai praised the development initiatives under Modi’s leadership and expressed support for his vision for the country. Several political leaders and prominent citizens attended the event.
