Describing the essence of the show, Debchandrima said, “‘Ye Fitoor Tera’ is a beautiful coming-of-age love story that explores emotions, relationships, self-discovery and the courage to find one’s own voice. Romance is at the heart of the show, but it also talks about personal growth and stepping into a new world with confidence. I believe audiences will connect deeply with the honesty of the characters and their journeys.”
Talking about her character Soumya, the actress revealed that the role is completely different from her real-life personality. She said, “Soumya is very different from who I am in real life. I am quite outspoken, whereas she is shy, introverted and speaks very softly. That contrast is what attracted me to the role. I had to consciously slow down my pace, soften my voice and adapt to her subtle body language to truly enter her world.”
She added that portraying Soumya has been an interesting challenge. “Even on set, our director often reminds me, ‘Deb, speak slowly!’ and we all end up laughing. It has been a fun challenge because I had to move away from my natural personality and bring this simple and innocent girl to life,” she said.
Speaking about how Soumya challenges the perception that shy people are weak, Debchandrima said, “I believe Soumya proves that being strong does not mean being the loudest person in the room. After studying in an all-girls school throughout her life, stepping into college is naturally overwhelming for her. But she keeps coming forward, learning and growing. That is her real strength, and I feel many girls will relate to her journey.”
The actress believes young women will connect with Soumya’s fear of new beginnings. “Whether it is the first day of college, moving to a new city or stepping outside your comfort zone, everyone has experienced that nervousness. What I love about Soumya is that she does not transform overnight. She takes one step at a time, just like all of us do in real life,” she said.

Talking about her own ‘fitoor’ or passion in life, Debchandrima shared, “My biggest passion is to keep growing as an actor. I enjoy taking up roles that challenge me, surprise me and help me discover something new about myself. I always want to keep raising my own standards.”
Reflecting on whether playing Soumya has changed her perspective on love and relationships, she said, “This character has reminded me that the best relationships are not about changing each other. They are about trust, patience and helping each other grow. That is what makes the relationship between Jeet and Soumya so beautiful.”
Sharing her experience of working with Ishaan Dhawan for the first time, Debchandrima said, “It has been a wonderful experience. Ishaan brings such positive energy that every day on set becomes enjoyable. We spent a lot of time understanding Jeet and Soumya’s journey together, and I think that comfort naturally reflects in our on-screen chemistry. I hope audiences enjoy watching us as much as we enjoyed creating their story.”
With its relatable characters and emotional storytelling, ‘Ye Fitoor Tera’ aims to capture the hopes, fears and dreams of young women as they step into new chapters of their lives.
