Bareilly: As part of the activities leading up to the 24th Convocation Ceremony, the Department of Education at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) organised a Book Reading and Review Programme to encourage reading habits, critical thinking and intellectual engagement among students.
The programme began with an address by Prof. Santosh Arora, Dean of the Faculty and Head of the Department of Education, who highlighted the significance of reading in personal and academic development. She described books as a person’s true companions and said quality literature helps shape character, broaden perspectives and lead a meaningful life.
Under the planned activity, students brought books of their choice covering subjects such as education, philosophy, society, political thought and other areas of interest. Participants spent an hour reading in the department’s seminar hall before engaging in a critical discussion and review of the literature they had studied.
The initiative witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars and students of the B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes. Participants resolved to continue reading quality literature beyond their academic curriculum and recognised the importance of developing a lifelong reading habit alongside their regular studies.
The programme was coordinated by Vimal Kumar.
Among those present were Prof. Yashpal Singh, Prof. Anju Agrawal, Dr. Pratibha Sagar, Dr. Tarun Rashtriya, Dr. Ram Babu Singh, Dr. Kirti Prajapati, Dr. Meenakshi Dwivedi, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan, along with research scholars and students.
