NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Rakesh Pal, who passed away in Chennai.
In a message shared on social media, the Defence Minister paid tribute to the senior officer, describing him as a dedicated and highly capable leader who played a significant role in strengthening India’s maritime security framework.
Rajnath Singh said that under Rakesh Pal’s leadership, the Indian Coast Guard had made remarkable progress in enhancing coastal surveillance, maritime preparedness, and national security operations.
He acknowledged the officer’s professionalism, commitment to duty, and contribution to safeguarding the country’s maritime interests, noting that his passing is a major loss to the defence and security establishment.

Senior officials and members of the defence community also expressed condolences, remembering Rakesh Pal for his leadership and years of service to the nation.
