Bareilly: A five-day “Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Pig Farming” organised by the Agri-Business Incubation (ABI) Centre and the Livestock Production and Management (LPM) Section of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute concluded successfully at the institute’s Izzatnagar campus.
The training programme witnessed participation from candidates belonging to four states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Delhi. The initiative aimed to promote scientific pig farming practices and encourage entrepreneurship among rural youth and farmers.
At the valedictory session, Chief Guest Dr. Roopsi Tiwari, Joint Director (Extension Education), distributed certificates to the participants and wished them success in their future ventures. She stated that pig farming can become an effective source of self-employment and economic empowerment for rural youth and farmers. She also emphasized that adoption of modern technologies and scientific management practices can significantly enhance income generation in this sector.
During the programme, participants received detailed training on pig management, nutrition, healthcare, biosecurity, breeding management, marketing strategies, and various financial assistance schemes related to livestock entrepreneurship.
Programme Coordinator Dr. Amit Kumar said that the primary objective of the training was to motivate farmers and youth to adopt scientific pig farming as a sustainable business opportunity.
On the concluding day, Principal Investigator of the ABI Centre Dr. Bablu Kumar, Co-Coordinator Dr. Amit Kumar, Co-Investigator Dr. M. K. Singh, and members of the ABI team were also present.
Participants described the training programme as highly informative and beneficial and expressed gratitude to IVRI for organising the initiative.
