Gautam Adani Says Energy and AI Infrastructure Will Define India’s Future Strength

Mumbai: Gautam Adani said energy security, digital security and artificial intelligence infrastructure will determine the global balance of power in the coming decades, stressing that India must become the creator and owner of its own “intelligence future.”

Addressing the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the Adani Group Chairman said the era of traditional globalisation is rapidly changing and countries are now competing through technology, computing power and strategic digital infrastructure. He described semiconductors, cloud infrastructure and data as modern instruments of national strength.

Adani stated that energy security and digital security have emerged as the two defining pillars of national power. He emphasized that artificial intelligence should not be viewed merely as software, but as a complete infrastructure ecosystem involving energy, data centres, chips, computing capacity, networks and talent.

Rejecting concerns that AI would eliminate jobs, he said the technology should instead be used to increase productivity, create industries, empower entrepreneurs and prepare young people for global competition. He called for the development of an India-centric AI ecosystem that supports inclusive economic growth.

Highlighting India’s opportunities, Adani noted that the country already has strong demand across manufacturing, mobility, logistics and digital services. He added that India’s expanding power capacity and digital infrastructure place it in a strong position to lead the AI-driven economy of the future.

The industrialist also referred to the Adani Group’s planned investment of 100 billion US dollars in energy and digital infrastructure, including the massive renewable energy project at Khavda in Gujarat and sovereign computing initiatives in partnership with global technology firms.

Concluding his address, Adani said the “next freedom struggle” would be fought through grids, factories, data centres, classrooms and laboratories, adding that true freedom in the modern era means achieving self-reliance in energy and computing.
