Lucknow | A shocking murder case has emerged from the Salarjung area under the BBD Police Station limits in Lucknow, where a 34-year-old engineer was allegedly killed by his live-in partner following a domestic dispute.
The deceased, Surya Pratap Singh, was reportedly working as an executive engineer with Eveready Industries India Ltd. Originally from Deoria, he had been living in Lucknow for several years.
According to police officials, Singh had been in a live-in relationship with a woman identified as Ratna. The relationship reportedly began a few years ago when Singh was tutoring her daughters, Jahnavi (18) and Anushka (14). Ratna, a widow, later developed a close association with him, and despite opposition from family members, the two began living together in a rented house nearly two years ago.
Dispute Turns Fatal
Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple had been facing frequent arguments in recent months. On Sunday night, one such dispute allegedly escalated into violence. Police suspect that Singh was attacked with a knife and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
In a disturbing turn, Ratna and her two daughters reportedly remained inside the house for several hours after the incident before informing authorities.
Police Action and Investigation
On Monday morning, Ratna contacted the police and reported the crime. A team comprising local police, forensic experts, and senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), reached the scene promptly. Evidence was collected, and all three—Ratna and her daughters—were taken into custody for questioning.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and timing of death.
Family Alleges Conspiracy
The victim’s father, Narendra Singh, who arrived at the scene after being informed, expressed deep grief and alleged that all three individuals were involved in the murder. He has demanded strict action against the accused.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and individual roles in the crime. Statements are being recorded, and forensic findings are expected to provide more clarity.
