“Soul of India Through Music” Marks 107th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar

Lucknow: The Pandit Ravi Shankar Music Foundation, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, paid a melodious tribute to Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar on his 107th birth anniversary through the program “Sangeet ki Dhuno Mein Bharat ki Atma” at Sant Gadgeji Maharaj Auditorium, Lucknow.

The event, held under the guidance of Prof. Jayant Khot (President), Vibha Singh (Vice President), and Director Dr. Shobhit Kumar Nahar, aligned with the cultural policies of  CM Yogi Adityanath and the encouragement of  Minister of Culture & Tourism Jayveer Singh. The celebration opened with a ceremonial lamp lighting, attended by eminent personalities including Padma Shri Tarun Bhattacharya, Padma Shri Ronu Majumdar, Pandit Mysore Manjunath, and spiritual leader Baba Ashutoshamber Maharaj, among others.

The evening featured a triveni of music—vocal, dance, and instrumental performances. Students and artists performed patriotic songs in tricolor attire, inspiring a deep sense of national pride. A highlight was Aryan Chatterjee, grandson of Pandit Ravi Shankar, performing soulful sarod renditions.

The instrumental triveni showcased Tarun Bhattacharya’s Santoor, Mysore Manjunath’s violin, and Ronu Majumdar’s flute, creating a harmonious blend representing North, Central, and South India. Accompaniment on the tabla by Pandit Dev Narayan Mishra and young talent Jyotirmay Roy Chaudhary added rhythmic depth. The program, skillfully anchored by Samreen, concluded with a collective celebration of India’s musical heritage, leaving the audience enthralled and reaffirming Pandit Ravi Shankar’s enduring legacy.
