Lucknow: Male athletes delivered commanding performances at the State Para Badminton Championship, with multiple standout winners emerging across wheelchair and standing categories in a competitive one-day event held at Modern Academy, Gomtinagar.
The tournament, which drew participation from over 50 para-athletes from across Uttar Pradesh, showcased high levels of skill, resilience, and sporting excellence, particularly in the men’s divisions where intense matches kept spectators engaged throughout the day.
In the men’s wheelchair category, Mayank Srivastava clinched the gold medal with a strong display of control and consistency. Keshav secured the silver medal, while Harshvardhan and Kunal Jetha shared the bronze positions. In another wheelchair division, Trivendra Singh emerged victorious to take gold, followed by Amrish Singh with silver. Navneet and Pradeep earned bronze medals in that category.
The men’s standing events also witnessed impressive performances. Shivam Pal stood out with a dominant run to claim the gold medal, while Tushar Nagar finished as the runner-up. Himanshu Singh and Vivek Singh secured bronze medals after commendable efforts. In a separate standing category, Kunal added another gold to his name, with Brijesh Singh taking silver and Raju and Ravindra Singh finishing with bronze medals.
While the spotlight remained on the men’s competitions, the championship also saw notable performances in the women’s categories, with Soni Verma and Prachi winning their respective finals.

The event reflected the growing strength of para badminton in the state, with athletes demonstrating both technical proficiency and competitive spirit. It also highlighted the importance of providing platforms for para-sportspersons to excel and gain recognition.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Arun Banerjee, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Tennis Association, felicitated the winners and praised their determination and achievements. The closing ceremony was attended by Amit Singh, Chairman of the UP Para Table Tennis Committee, along with Anand Pandey, Sunil Joshi, and other dignitaries.
The championship not only celebrated sporting success but also reinforced the message of inclusivity and equal opportunity in sports, with male athletes leading the charge through their remarkable performances.
