Retired Professor B.R. Kukreti of Rohilkhand University Honoured with Eminent Teacher Educator Award

Bareilly: Professor B.R. Kukreti, former Head of the Faculty of Education and Allied Sciences at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, has been awarded the “Eminent Teacher Educator Award” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to teacher education over the past four decades.

The award was presented during the 58th Annual National Conference of the Indian Association of Teacher Educators (I.A.T.E.), held on March 12–13, 2026, in Gangtok, Sikkim. The honour was conferred by Raju Basnet, Cabinet Minister for Education, Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs, Sikkim; Professor Shantanu Kumar Swain, Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim Central University; former Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Miyan of Maulana Azad National Urdu University; and Professor Anita Rastogi, National President of I.A.T.E. Over 100 eminent educators from across India attended the conference.

The Eminent Teacher Educator Award is presented annually by I.A.T.E. to three to four educators who have made exceptional contributions to teacher education in India.

Born in Barsudi village of Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Professor Kukreti earned his M.Ed with a gold medal from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal) and completed his Ph.D. in Education from Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. Over the past 40 years, he has served at Bareilly College, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, and Rohilkhand University, contributing significantly to teacher education.

During his tenure, he held multiple key positions including Head of the Department of Education, Dean of Education and Allied Sciences, Coordinator of IQAC, Coordinator of NEP Steering Committee, and Chief Proctor. In 2019, as State Coordinator of the Uttar Pradesh Combined B.Ed Entrance Examination, he successfully managed admissions for over 6 lakh candidates. He has also been appointed as Visitors’ Nominee on the Planning Board of Assam University, Silchar (2019), a member of the NCERT Executive Committee (2020), and as a representative on the Governing Body of Dayalbagh Institute of Education, Agra (2021).

Professor Kukreti has guided 25 Ph.D. scholars, with four currently under his supervision, and has published over 80 research papers in national and international journals. He has participated as a subject expert or presenter in more than 150 national and international seminars and conferences, continuing to contribute to excellence in higher education and teacher training.

Upon receiving the award, Professor Kukreti expressed his gratitude, stating that he feels deeply honoured and thanked the Indian Association of Teacher Educators for the recognition. Colleagues, students, and Vice-Chancellors, including Professor K.P. Singh, and senior educators extended their congratulations on this prestigious achievement.
