Bareilly — The Department of Social Work at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University organized a two-day training programme to conduct an effective impact assessment of the Jal Jeevan Mission’s ‘Har Ghar Nal – Har Ghar Jal’ scheme. The programme was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Professor K.P. Singh.
The training aims to prepare students for scientific evaluation of the scheme’s social, economic, and health impacts in selected rural areas. Through this initiative, students will assess how the household tap water scheme has influenced daily life, access to basic amenities, and overall well-being in villages.
Project Coordinator Professor V.B.S. Yadav stated that the study is not merely a formal exercise but a serious effort to understand real changes in rural life. “Jal Jeevan Mission has marked a significant step in strengthening basic infrastructure in rural India. Our objective is to examine the extent to which the scheme’s benefits have reached communities, identify areas of notable improvement, and highlight sectors that require further intervention. This impact assessment will enhance transparency, accountability, and evidence-based policy-making,” he said. He urged students to conduct fieldwork with sensitivity, objectivity, and discipline to ensure reliable and meaningful findings.
Delivering the keynote address, Professor Ashutosh Priya explained the entire impact evaluation process in a structured and practical manner. He elaborated on field survey preparation, communication techniques with respondents, unbiased data collection, observation methods, and report writing. He also emphasized how systematically gathered data supports effective policy formulation. Students actively engaged in the session, raising questions and resolving field survey-related queries, which strengthened their confidence ahead of fieldwork.
Dr. Ajay Trivedi highlighted the technical dimensions of the study, while representatives from the Jal Jeevan Mission, Shri Manish and Shri Vikas, provided insights into the implementation framework of the scheme.

Co-project coordinators Dr. Afsana, Dr. Nivedita Trivedi, Dr. Rafan Ali, and Dr. Vishwadeep Singh played key roles in designing and organizing the programme.
Students participated enthusiastically and finalized preparations for the upcoming field surveys. The Department of Social Work at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University continues to link academic learning with social transformation through research-driven and community-based initiatives.
