New Delhi | Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central and state governments, alleging failure on multiple fronts ranging from parliamentary functioning and national security to agriculture, trade policy and law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to the media in the Parliament परिसर, Yadav said the responsibility of running Parliament lies with the ruling BJP government, but it was deliberately avoiding answering questions raised by the opposition. “The government does not want to respond to questions. The situation is such that any action can be taken against those who raise questions. To prevent questions, the government can go to any extent,” he alleged.
Allegations Over China and National Territory
Raising concerns over India’s relations with China, the Samajwadi Party chief said the BJP government appeared “nervous” on the issue because, according to him, land had been lost during its tenure. He questioned the government on India’s territorial status, asking it to clarify what the country’s geographical area was in 2014 and what it is today.
Yadav also alleged that economic policies under the BJP had increased dependence on Chinese imports. “For profit, people linked to the government started importing goods from China. China has weakened our economy,” he claimed, adding that India was now set to face similar dependence on the United States as well.
Budget, Trade Deals and Impact on Farmers
On the ongoing budget discussion in Parliament, Yadav stressed that a detailed debate was necessary, particularly in the context of recent trade agreements. Referring to a trade deal with the United States, he warned that agricultural imports from America would severely impact Indian farmers.
“American agricultural products will now come to India. What will our farmers do?” he asked, accusing the BJP of creating serious risks for farming and agriculture. He said earlier economic liberalisation was justified in the name of improving the condition of the poor and farmers, but in reality, poverty had increased.
“The BJP government has opened the entire market to foreigners,” Yadav alleged. “Even animal feed may come from abroad. If that happens, what will be the future of the Grass and Fodder Research Institute in Jhansi?” he asked, adding that even soybean oil would be imported from the US.

Ethanol Policy Under Question
Yadav also criticised the government’s ethanol policy, stating that sugarcane farmers were promised prosperity through ethanol blending. “Now even ethanol will be imported from outside. Where will the benefit to farmers go?” he asked.
Law and Order in Uttar Pradesh
Turning to Uttar Pradesh, Yadav alleged that the state was witnessing “complete lawlessness” under the BJP government. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi represents Uttar Pradesh, yet serious incidents were occurring in the state.
Citing examples, he claimed that a major scrap mafia had escaped from Banda Jail, and that powerful criminals were fleeing from prisons. “If an MLA or a minister can be kidnapped, there cannot be a bigger example of lawlessness,” he said.
He further alleged rampant corruption in the state, citing collapsing water tanks as evidence. “The water tanks cannot bear the weight of corruption and are collapsing. As soon as they are filled, they fall,” Yadav said.
Broad Political Attack
Yadav’s remarks marked a broad political offensive against the BJP, combining national security concerns, economic policy criticism, farmers’ issues and law-and-order allegations, as political tensions continue to run high during the ongoing parliamentary session.
