National Lok Adalat Successfully Held in Lucknow; Over 3.48 Lakh Cases Disposed of

Lucknow: In a significant step towards providing speedy, affordable and accessible justice to the general public, the National Lok Adalat was successfully organised in Lucknow on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the august presence of  Administrative Judge, Lucknow, Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan. During the day-long proceedings, a remarkable 3,48,730 cases were amicably settled, reflecting the effectiveness of the alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

The National Lok Adalat commenced at 10:30 am at the Old High Court premises, Lucknow, with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tribute to Goddess Saraswati. On the occasion, District Judge, Lucknow, Malkhan Singh presented a memento and bouquet to Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan as a mark of respect.

Several dignitaries and officials were present at the inaugural ceremony, including Dr Manu Kalia, Member Secretary, Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Lucknow, all Additional District Judges, Nodal Officer, National Lok Adalat, Ravindra Kumar Dwivedi (Special Judge, CBI Central, Lucknow), Meenakshi Sonkar, Additional District Judge/Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Lucknow, the Chief Judicial Magistrate and all Judicial Magistrates. Representatives of the Lucknow Bar Association and Awadh Bar Association, senior police officials, bank officers, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, para-legal volunteers, panel lawyers and court staff were also in attendance. The proceedings were conducted by Neha Gangwar, Civil Judge (Senior Division).

On the occasion of the National Lok Adalat, a Mega Health Camp and Blood Donation Camp was also organised within the court परिसर for the benefit of litigants and the general public. The camp was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan by cutting the ribbon.

While addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Administrative Judge Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan appealed for resolving the maximum number of cases through mutual settlement in Lok Adalats, emphasizing their role in reducing litigation and ensuring timely justice.

The National Lok Adalat was organised not only in the District Court, Lucknow, but also across the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Family Court premises, Commercial Court, Consumer Forum, Collectorate and all tehsils of the district.

In the district courts, 10,156 cases were disposed of, including 284 cases by the Special Judge (EC Act), 4,350 cases by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, 2,084 cases by the Special Chief Judicial Magistrate (Customs), and other cases by Judicial Magistrates. Additionally, 163 cases were settled by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, 14 cases by the Commercial Court and 273 cases by the Family Court, resulting in the disposal of 18,997 pending cases and recovery of ₹45,30,10,573.

At the pre-litigation stage, 3,29,733 cases were settled, including 1,01,091 revenue cases, 2,05,029 cases of the Chief Medical Officer, and 23,616 other matters, with a total recovery of ₹5,86,22,776.

Overall, the National Lok Adalat disposed of 3,48,730 cases, leading to a total recovery of ₹51,16,33,349, marking the event as a highly successful initiative in strengthening access to justice and promoting amicable dispute resolution in Lucknow.
