Kanpur: In a remarkable public health achievement, Kanpur Nagar successfully conducted the “Anaemia Mukt Kanpur” campaign under Mission Shakti 5.0, focusing on the health and empowerment of women and adolescent girls. The initiative witnessed massive participation across urban and rural areas, turning health awareness into a festive celebration with decorations, posters, and community involvement.
9,04,141 Women and Girls Covered in One Day
The campaign was simultaneously launched at 4,500 centres, including schools, offices, panchayat buildings, and health facilities. In a single day, 9,04,141 women, adolescent girls and students consumed iron-folic acid tablets, marking a record-breaking milestone.
The drive was inaugurated by District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh at S.N. Sen Balika Inter College, where around 1,500 girl students were given iron tablets. Addressing the participants, he said,
“Mission Shakti is not just about safety—it is a strong step towards women’s health and self-reliance.”
Senior Officials Lead by Example
The campaign also saw enthusiastic participation at the Vikas Bhawan, where Chief Development Officer (CDO) Diksha Jain took the iron tablet along with women employees to set an example.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Haridutt Nemi stated that the target is to cover nearly 14 lakh women in the district. With over 9 lakh already covered in the first phase, the remaining beneficiaries will be included in the next round.

DM Jitendra Pratap Singh congratulated CDO Diksha Jain, CMO Dr. Haridutt Nemi, JSI Program Officer Huda Zehra, along with teams from the Health, Education, Panchayati Raj, and Anganwadi departments. He emphasized that team spirit and collective effort are key to achieving the goal of an Anaemia-Free Kanpur.
This large-scale initiative under Mission Shakti 5.0 not only boosts women’s health but also strengthens their journey towards confidence, awareness, and empowerment.
