Mumbai: Renowned playback singer Shilpa Rao has been making headlines after winning the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song “Chaliya” from the blockbuster film Jawan. The recognition came at the 71st National Film Awards, where her soulful rendition was lauded by both audiences and the jury.
Following the announcement, Shilpa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India, the jury, and the entire Jawan team. In an emotional note, she thanked her parents, family, friends, and mentors, calling them her “biggest strength.”
“My parents, my brother Anurag, my husband Ritesh, my family, and friends—your love is my backbone. I owe everything to my gurus and ustads who taught me music, and to the people in the film industry who guided me along the way. I am deeply grateful,” she wrote.

She also addressed her fans, saying: “This award is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you for keeping me in your hearts and for staying with me every day. I feel emotional, grateful, and full of love today.”

Recalling the moment when her parents heard the news, Shilpa shared that “they were happier than I was.” She dedicated the award to her hometown Jamshedpur, acknowledging its role in shaping her as an artist.
