Lucknow: The School of Management Sciences (SMS), Lucknow celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 with a series of awareness activities and a special lecture on the theme “Beat the Plastic Pollution.”
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Raj Singh, Director General (Technical), who highlighted the serious hazards caused by the indiscriminate use of single-use plastic.
He emphasized the alarming consequences of plastic pollution, such as degradation of soil, contamination of water bodies, adverse health effects, and threats to biodiversity. Dr. Singh also stressed the growing problem of plastic waste choking rivers and oceans across the globe.
In his lecture, he proposed the following key remedies to combat plastic pollution and ensure a sustainable environment:

• Reduce single-use plastics
• Promote recycling and reuse
• Shift to eco-friendly alternatives
• Raise environmental awareness
• Strengthen implementation of policies and regulations
The session was graced by Secretary and CEO Sharad Singh, who encouraged students to participate in plantation drives as a means to restore the ecological balance and look for sustainable alternatives to plastic.
Over 35 faculty members attended the session and actively participated by raising questions and sharing thoughts on practical actions that can be taken to protect the environment.

Singh (Dean Student Welfare), Dr. Hemant Kumar Singh (Dean Engineering), Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Dr. Asha Kulshreshtha, Dr. Shrinkhala Srivastava, Umesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Pushpanjali Singh, Dr. Shobhana Singh, and Sunit Mishra, among others.
