Prayagraj (Allahabad): For the past three and a half years, the absence of a courtroom and building for the UP Recovery of Damages to Public and Private Property Claims Tribunal Prayagraj has caused immense inconvenience to the litigants. The Claim Tribunal Prayagraj having jurisdiction of 5 Commissioneries viz Prayagraj, Varanasi, Vindhyachal, Chitrakoot and jhansi. Presently the Chairman of Claim Tribunal Prayagraj is also incharge of Chairman Claim Tribunal Lucknow. The delay in establishing proper facilities for legal proceedings has left claimants without recourse.

In response to this issue,  Siddharth Narayan filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Allahabad High Court. The petition highlights how administrative negligence has deprived litigants of timely justice in recovery of damages to related matters.

Taking the matter seriously, the Allahabad High Court has directed to obtain the instructions from State through ACS Home (Police), Commissioner Prayagraj and District Magistrate Prayagraj. The court is of the view that a courtroom and necessary infrastructure be made available promptly to ensure justice is not further delayed.
