Books in Varanasi now available at the click of a button

Varanasi: Now there is no need to spend hours searching for books in library racks and cupboards. Your favorite books in Varanasi will be in front of you with just one click. All this will be possible with the details of books in Varanasi online on e-Granthalaya software. With the aim of making books accessible to more and more readers, books from libraries across the state are being made online.

The work of uploading the libraries on ‘e-Granthalaya’ software developed by NIC is being finalized rapidly. In the first phase, preparations are being made to simultaneously launch five lakh books of government libraries across the state online on the e-Granthalaya software. It will be launched after the elections are over. 24 thousand books of Varanasi District Library have been made online.

After the details of books of government libraries across the state are uploaded on the software, the government will launch it simultaneously. Departmental officials say that the books of libraries across the state are expected to be uploaded on the software in one and a half to two months. By June-July, the books uploaded on the e-software will be made online for the readers.

Name, author, shelf number, rack number and order details of books are being uploaded on the software. As soon as the reader enters the name of the book, complete details of its shelf and rack number in the library will appear on the screen. This way you will not have to waste time searching for a book. Out of total 34 thousand books of the district library, 10 thousand books have been allotted to rural libraries. There are membership of more than 2500 students here. Similarly, details of books in Varanasi available in libraries of other districts are also being uploaded on the software.
