Kanpur: The upcoming Kanpur Premier League (KPL), set to begin on February 28 at Green Park Stadium, will offer free entry for spectators. KCA Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor announced that fans can collect complimentary tickets from designated outlets across the city by presenting a valid ID. The tournament, specially designed for Kanpur residents, will feature six teams named after city constituencies.
Dr. Kapoor emphasized that KPL, inspired by IPL and UP T20 League formats, aims to attract large crowds to cheer for local talent.
On Tuesday, the second day of KPL trials at Kamla Club saw 310 players showcasing their skills in batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping. The trials were overseen by chief selector Gopal Sharma, along with Vikas Yadav, Ankit Rajput, and Rakesh Tiwari, who closely monitored performances.
Despite online registrations closing, over 50 players registered offline due to high enthusiasm. After the three-day trial, matches will be organized, and standout players will proceed to the KPL auction.
