Is Shubman Gill the new King Kohli ?

Jaipur: Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill completed 3,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Young batsman Gill reached this milestone during the IPL match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Chasing the target of 197 runs in the match, Gill scored 72 runs in 44 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes, his runs came at a strike rate of more than 163.

Gill left Virat Kohli behind

With this, Shubman Gill achieved the great achievement of scoring 3000 IPL runs at the age of 24 years and 215 days. He overtook the previous record of former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, who had achieved the feat in 26 years and 186 days. Sanju Samson (26 years and 320 days) is at third place in terms of completing 3000 runs at a young age, followed by Suresh Raina (27 years and 161 days) and Rohit Sharma (27 years and 343 days).

Shubman Gill’s IPL career

Now, in 97 IPL matches and 94 innings, Gill has scored 3,045 runs at an average of 39.04 and a strike rate of over 135. He has three centuries and 20 fifties in his IPL career, with a best score of 129. He is the 24th highest run scorer in IPL history. Gill also represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from 2018–21. In 55 innings of 58 matches for KKR, he scored 1,417 runs with 10 half-centuries at an average of 31.49 and a strike rate of 123.00. His best score for KKR was 76 runs.
