Lucknow: Keeping pace with the changing economic scenario and the initiation of the Government of India to propel higher education institutions towards Skill India and Start Up India, the Uddyam Facilitation Centre of the Department of Commerce, National P G College organised a workshop and pitching competition” Udyam Uddan: padhai se kamai tak” in collaboration with the Institute for Industrial Development, Lucknow.
The said event took place ]in Auditorium II. of National PG College. The event started with offering prayers to MAA Saraswati for the success of the event. Principal, Prof Devendra Kumar Singh welcomed the guests and emphasised on the importance of innovation in any entrepreneurial venture.
Dr Amit Sinha, Head, Training and Placement at IID emphasised on the growing opportunities in the market in the next ten years. Prof Jyoti Bhargava, HOD, Commerce reiterated on the importance of skill development towards fostering placement and entrepreneurship both.
More than twenty teams of students participated in the pitching competition comprising of students from all faculties – Commerce, Science, BCA and Management. All participants made impressive presentations of their ideas through PPT presentations which were judged by a panel of experts including CS Pradeep Soni, Company Secretary. UPPCL; CA Lata Moorjani, Chartered Accountant and Financial Analyst; and Mr R.K Saxena Senior Consultant with more than 50 years of experience in incubating proposals.
Aditya Tripathi for his pitch named “CRADO” and Ms. Diksha for her pitch “RITUKALA” won the best pitch and best pitch runner-up. They were awarded cash prizes along with certificates and medals. The other participants too were given certificates and awards. The ‘best innovative idea award was given to Abhiram Srivastava, (Student Meal Card) and Mohd Yusuf Nias (Online Gaming) for their pitches. Proposals were selected to be taken to the second round for mentorship.
These proposals would be redrafted before being presented with the Government for fund raising and starting the incubation. The icing on the cake was a brief interaction and experience sharing by alumni Prakhar Jindal of BCA who spoke about his inspiring journey as a baker. The ceremony was successfully conducted by Dr. Anuradha Sharma and Osceen Mishra and ended with a vote of thanks by the HOD, Commerce, Prof Jyoti Bhargava.
