Yogi Proposes ‘Singapore City’ Near Jewar Airport, ₹775-Crore Packaging Hub to Create 1,880 Jobs

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed developing a dedicated ‘Singapore City’ and a high-tech industrial township near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar to strengthen economic ties with Singapore and attract foreign investment to the state.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting with a 14-member delegation led by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in Lucknow on Tuesday. The discussions focused on investment opportunities in logistics, semiconductor manufacturing, data centres, green energy, urban planning, agriculture and food processing, waste management, and hospitality.

The delegation’s visit followed Yogi Adityanath’s trip to Singapore in February 2026, during which investment agreements worth approximately ₹60,000 crore were reportedly agreed upon. The Chief Minister said the state government would now focus on translating memorandums of understanding (MoUs) into operational projects and ensuring that investments move from the agreement stage to manufacturing and production.

Yogi proposed the Singapore City project near Jewar, highlighting the region’s connectivity through expressways and the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors. He said the location had the potential to emerge as a major supply-chain hub for international companies operating in northern India.

The Chief Minister also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s industrial land availability, with a land bank of more than 75,000 acres, and plans to develop 27 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters.

During the meeting, the state government issued an eligibility certificate to Greater Nasik Infracon Private Limited for establishing a Universal Packaging Hub in Sector 8D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. The project will involve an investment of ₹775 crore and cover 50 acres. Linked to Singapore-based Universal Success Enterprises, the facility will include foreign direct equity participation from Singapore and is expected to generate 1,880 direct jobs.

The government also exchanged an MoU with global agricultural and food-processing company Agrocorp International. The company plans to establish a greenfield manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh to produce soya protein isolate and chickpea protein concentrate. The project is expected to strengthen agricultural processing and value addition in the state.

Another MoU was exchanged with Blue Planet Environmental Solutions for waste-management projects involving an estimated investment of ₹250 crore to ₹350 crore. The company plans to undertake the treatment of approximately 7.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste in Noida’s Sector 145 and establish a fresh-waste processing plant in Saharanpur with a capacity of 350 tonnes per day. These projects are expected to create 100–120 jobs.

Yogi identified six priority areas for cooperation, including multimodal logistics, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, data centres and cloud services, artificial intelligence, clean technologies, and tourism and hospitality.

He said Uttar Pradesh currently accounts for around 55% of India’s mobile phone production and 60% of its electronic components manufacturing. The state’s agricultural output, which contributes approximately 21% of the country’s foodgrain production, also offers opportunities for collaboration with Singaporean companies in food packaging, processing and exports.

The Chief Minister also highlighted opportunities in tourism infrastructure, wellness projects, hotels and convention centres across Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Prayagraj and the Buddhist circuit. Singapore’s expertise in urban planning, he said, could also support the development of Lucknow, the State Capital Region and new townships.

SBF Chairman Mark Lee and other delegation members appreciated the state’s infrastructure, industrial parks and investment policies following visits to industrial areas in Noida and Greater Noida. They also reviewed developments involving the proposed Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park and semiconductor cluster.

Mark Lee described Yogi Adityanath’s February visit to Singapore as an important milestone in bilateral business engagement. Prasoon Mukherjee, chairman of the SBF-India Business Committee, said the delegation’s visit reflected growing interest among Singaporean businesses in Uttar Pradesh.

The meeting was attended by SBF CEO Kok Ping Soon, IHCL (Tata Group) Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal, Agrocorp International CEO Vishal Vijay, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions CEO Prashant Singh, PSA India Managing Director Pavitran M. Kallada, and Sembcorp AGM Vineet Yadav, among other officials and industry representatives.

The proposed Singapore City, together with the packaging, food-processing and waste-management projects, forms part of the state government’s broader effort to attract international investment, expand industrial capacity and create employment opportunities as Uttar Pradesh pursues its $1 trillion economy target.
