Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment has seized cash, precious metals, jewellery and property documents during a raid on the Lucknow residence of former Agra Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Lalit Kumar in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

According to vigilance officials, searches conducted on July 7 and 8 at Kumar’s residence in Aliganj led to the recovery of ₹1.62 crore in cash, around 13 kg of gold, 9 kg of silver, and diamond-studded jewellery. The recovered gold, silver and ornaments have an estimated value of about ₹20 crore.

Investigators also recovered documents related to residential plots, houses, flat bookings and agricultural land in Lucknow, Noida, Barabanki and Raebareli. Records of investments exceeding ₹1 crore in bank deposits, post office schemes, mutual funds and fixed deposits were also seized.

The vigilance team further recovered two vehicles—a Toyota Innova and a Hyundai i20—along with a licensed revolver. Officials also found evidence of substantial expenditure on home interiors and household furnishings.

The Vigilance Establishment said a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Kumar in 2024, and the investigation has been continuing under government directions.
