Projects include reconstruction of Madaiya and Visarjan ghats and beautification of Ramlila Ground; Minister also releases booklet detailing five years of development work
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma inaugurated three development projects worth ₹531.5 lakh (approximately ₹5.31 crore) in Mau late Saturday night, providing new infrastructure and improved public facilities to the district.
The projects include the reconstruction of Madaiya Ghat and Visarjan Ghat, along with interlocking and beautification work at Ramlila Ground. On the occasion, Sharma also presented an account of the development works undertaken in Mau during his five-year tenure and released a development booklet.
Congratulating residents on the completion of the projects, Sharma said the occasion was a matter of happiness and pride for Mau. He credited the blessings of Lord Mahadev and the support of local residents for the development initiatives undertaken over the past five years.
He said establishing Mau as a model of development remained his commitment and that the district’s landscape was changing with public participation.
Minister presents five-year development report
Sharma said every public representative has a responsibility to inform people about the work undertaken during their tenure. In keeping with this principle, he has been presenting an annual account of his activities on January 26 every year.
The development booklet, released in the presence of public representatives, provides details of projects undertaken over the past five years. He said the publication would also be made available digitally and invited suggestions from residents.
Mau Mahadev Ghat envisioned as a world-class tourism destination
Highlighting the development of Mahadev Ghat, Sharma said he had travelled to nearly 50 countries and visited several international tourist destinations. He expressed satisfaction that Mahadev Ghat in Mau had developed into a distinctive tourist attraction.
He said approximately ₹20 crore had been invested in the construction of the ghat through public participation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. No individual’s name was inscribed at the site, as the ghat belonged to the entire community rather than any particular person.
He added that the project was inspired by devotion to Lord Mahadev and a spirit of public service, with the objective of preserving it as a shared heritage of Mau.

Details of three development projects
The three projects inaugurated by the minister include:
-
Madaiya Ghat reconstruction: ₹260.27 lakh.
-
Visarjan Ghat reconstruction: ₹247.42 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Global Urban Development Scheme.
-
Ramlila Ground development: ₹23.81 lakh for interlocking and beautification.
The projects, with a combined investment of ₹531.5 lakh, are expected to improve public amenities while strengthening the religious and cultural identity of Mau.
Sharma said the beauty of a city was not determined merely by roads, buildings and ghats, but also by the values, traditions and cultural awareness of its people. He said cultural programmes were organised alongside development initiatives to reconnect residents with their heritage, traditions and religious beliefs.
Cultural evening showcases folk and devotional traditions
A special cultural evening was organised as part of the celebrations. Alka Pahadia’s troupe captivated the audience with performances of Chhath songs and other melodious compositions.
Artists from Mathura presented Radha-Krishna dance performances and an enchanting Phoolon Ki Holi, bringing the cultural traditions of Braj to the gathering.
The programme featured a blend of devotion, music and folk culture. It was conducted by Vinita Johri and attended by public representatives, administrative officials, distinguished citizens and a large number of local residents.
