Lucknow: To keep Uttar Pradesh clean and healthy, on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Urban Development Department is going to run a cleanliness campaign in the entire state from September 17 to October 2.
On the occasion of the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who gave the message of cleanliness to the nation, tribute will be paid by running a 155-hour non-stop cleanliness campaign in all urban bodies under the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada.
This 15-day campaign will be conducted through theme-based IEC activities on a daily basis.
The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to the Urban Development Department that all the cities of the state should be kept clean during the campaign. This time the theme of the Swachhata Hi Seva Year-2024 campaign is ‘Swabhaav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata’.
Under the participation of cleanliness, cleanliness will be organized by ministers, public representatives, officials and voluntary organizations and school colleges by doing shramdaan at various places. Various IEC programs will be organized for the participation of youth and awareness of cleanliness.
Under the IEC program, along with Plogrun, Marathon, Cyclothon, Plantation, Zero Waste Event, public awareness programs will be organized in the wards by the members of Swachh Vatravara Protsahan Samiti. It was also told that at present about 5000 Swachh Sarathi Clubs have been established in the state.
The clubs will be involved through various campaigns. School premises will be made plastic free, the premises of educational institutions will be cleaned and students will be made to take a pledge of cleanliness.
Under the total cleanliness campaign, cleanliness activities will be conducted on a large scale in public places, government offices, markets, educational institutions, zoos, Ganga town-ghats, water bodies, tourist places, religious, spiritual heritage sites, all toilets etc.
A Swachh Vatravara Protsahan Samiti has been formed in each ward, which will play a role in the survey for clean houses in each ward and will honor the best 3 houses in each ward with a certificate.
Along with this, the sanitation workers doing excellent work in each ward will also be honored. Under the Safai Mitra Suraksha Camp, health check-up and health insurance of sanitation workers will be provided and they will be made aware about the government schemes available for them.
