Two Train Thieves Arrested at Charbagh Railway Station

Lucknow: The GRP Charbagh police team arrested two notorious train thieves as part of a special operation directed by Superintendent of Police (Railways) Prashant Verma. The operation, aimed at enhancing safety on trains and railway stations, was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railways) Vikas Pandey and Inspector-in-Charge Dharamveer Singh.

Arrested Accused

The suspects, identified as Sameer, a resident of Lakdi Mohalla Railway Line slum under Cantt Police Station, and Arjun Sonkar, a resident of Shram Vihar Nagar near Gate No. 3 Machhli Mandi slum under Alambagh Police Station, were apprehended at Charbagh Railway Station.

Modus Operandi

Inspector Dharamveer Singh described the accused as skilled and crafty thieves who target sleeping passengers or those boarding trains. They have a history of stealing mobile phones, bags, and jewelry, and have been previously jailed for similar offenses.

Confession and Past Crimes

During interrogation, the duo admitted to multiple thefts, including:

  • Eight months ago: Stole a purse containing a PAN card, Aadhaar card, and two mobile phones.
  • Four months ago: Stole a purse with a mobile phone, a chain, and cash.

The stolen items were sold to passersby, and the money was spent on personal expenses. The thieves were arrested while attempting to sell hidden stolen mobile phones.
