Lucknow: In line with the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, the State Rural Development Institute is continuously conducting training programs on various subjects with the aim of giving complete execution of various developmental and other government schemes.
In this series, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya State Rural Development Institute, Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, organized a three-day residential training program on “She is a Changemaker” for capacity building of elected women representatives. This training program was attended by women village heads and women councilors of Nagar Panchayat.
On the first day of the training session, in the august presence of Dr. Shivani Dey, SRO, Deputy Secretary, National Women’s Commission, Government of India, New Delhi, and Dr. S.S. Senapati, Senior Advisor, Additional Director of the Institute, BD Choudhary, in his presidential address, gave a particularly relevant lecture on the role and practical conditions of women’s representation in Gram Panchayat, Kshetra Panchayat, District Panchayat, Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation.
Under this training program, capacity building of women representatives was done through various state/national level intellectual speakers and subject experts on various appropriate and useful topics such as 73/74th constitutional amendment and women empowerment, role of local urban bodies/panchayat raj institutions in overall development, introduction to latest development schemes and programmes related to women, participation of women in various development projects and gender budgeting, discussion and information on sexual harassment of women at workplace and related laws, development of leadership skills in elected women representatives, development of communication skills and public speaking art in elected women representatives and status management and personality development etc.
On the occasion of the closing of the training, state level intellectual educationist and former senior member of Public Service Commission, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Krishna Veer Singh Shakya, while addressing the women representatives as the chief guest, said that our constitution is like a holy book.
Everyone, being an ideal public representative, has to discharge their responsibilities and constitutional duties with loyalty and honesty, and as an ideal woman, they have to fulfil the responsibilities of a mother, sister and ideal wife in their society and family.
In view of the organization and management of this training programme, Training Programme Controller Officer Sarita Gupta, Deputy Director Institute and Training Programme Incharge Dr. Seema Rathore, Assistant Director Institute have played an important role and in terms of cooperation, Dr. Alka Sharma, Faculty Member, Dr. Shiv Bachan Singh Yadav, Senior Trainer, Anuj Dubey, Computer Operator and Mohd. Shahenshah, Publicity Assistant have made commendable contribution.
