Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested two men and a woman in connection with the murder of a Lucknow youth, who was allegedly lured on the pretext of a job and killed in Tamil Nadu.
According to officials from Mahigawan Police Station, the case came to light on April 19, 2026, after a complaint was filed by Manorama, a resident of Rampurwa village under Mahigawan police station area. In her complaint, she alleged that the accused had taken her son, Saurabh Rawat, with them on April 10 on the promise of work and later murdered him at Jolarpettai Junction.
Case Registration and Arrest
Based on the complaint, a case (No. 48/2026) was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting swiftly, the police summoned the named accused for questioning on April 20. Following interrogation, supported by technical evidence and witness statements, the police arrested three individuals:
- Akhilesh (21)
- Kamlesh (30)
- Preeti (30)
All three are residents of Pilehati village under Kursi police station in Barabanki district and are reportedly engaged in daily wage labour.
Modus Operandi
Police said the accused lured the victim under the pretext of providing employment and took him along to Tamil Nadu, where they allegedly murdered him at Jolarpettai railway junction. The motive behind the murder is still under investigation.
Police Action
The arrests were made at around 12:05 PM on April 20, following due legal procedures and in compliance with Supreme Court and human rights guidelines. The accused are being produced before the court, and their criminal history is being verified with other districts and police units.
Investigation Team
The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector Ramkumar Gupta, along with Sub-Inspectors Satish Singh, Gaurishankar Singh, Amit Singh Sengar, Constable Arvind, and Woman Constable Shama Chauhan of Mahigawan police station.
Further investigation is underway to uncover additional details related to the case.
