Lucknow: Under the “Shiksha Ki Udaan” campaign, one lakh students across Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur and Shravasti districts of Devipatan division have received study tables. The tables have given children a proper, dedicated space to study at home. In return, many of them have sent handwritten letters of thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Some decorated their letters with flowers, while others drew their new study table or a portrait of the Chief Minister. The division has met its target of distributing one lakh tables.
The letters go beyond government figures. They show what it means to a child to finally have a study corner at home.
Swati: “I am very happy to have received the study table”
In her letter to the Chief Minister, Swati wrote that she had been given a study table and reading material, and thanked him sincerely. She said she studies at the table every day and makes use of the material. She decorated her letter with flowers and drew a study table, a book and a pencil at the bottom.
Saba: “My back doesn’t hurt anymore”
A Class 6 student, Saba wrote about the difference the table has made to her daily studies. She said that earlier she found it very uncomfortable to study at home, and that the table has made things easier. In her own simple words, she added that her back no longer hurts. Along with the letter, she drew a study table and wrote the slogan “Sab Padhein, Sab Badhein” (Everyone learns, everyone grows).
Nuzhat Fatima: “I can concentrate better now”
Nuzhat Fatima, a Class 7 student, prepared her “letter of gratitude” on blue chart paper. She wrote that the table has given her a good environment for studying, increased her interest in learning and helped her concentrate better than before. She also said she uses it to finish her homework and revise lessons. Using coloured pencils, she drew a girl studying to express her thanks.
Children put their joy on paper
The children’s thank-you notes are not limited to words. Many made posters with great creativity. One child drew a large portrait of the Chief Minister with “Beti Bachao” and “Beti Padhao” written on either side, and a girl receiving a study table below. Another poster showed a girl being handed a table at a school gate, with the line “Beti padhegi, aage badhegi, Uttar Pradesh ka naam badhayegi” (A daughter who studies will move ahead and bring glory to Uttar Pradesh). One child wrote “Thank You” in large letters and drew the Chief Minister, a student and a study table together.
Study tables reach one lakh meritorious students
Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal said the target under the “Shiksha Ki Udaan” study table campaign in the division’s four districts was to distribute one lakh tables, and that it has been achieved in full. The campaign aims to build a culture of disciplined study at home and encourage academic excellence in government schools. By giving tables to meritorious students, the initiative provides a place for steady, focused study outside the classroom. She said the tables have gone to children from rural backgrounds and have become their personal study space.
Bahraich leads with 34,260 tables
According to the Divisional Commissioner, Bahraich received the highest number of tables at 34,260, followed by Gonda with 27,650, Balrampur with 26,984 and Shravasti with 11,106. Together, these met the division’s target of one lakh tables.
Kasturba students also covered, along with top performers
She said the campaign provides tables to the top-performing students of government schools. All girls studying in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have also been included as beneficiaries. The programme has been designed as an ongoing effort so that top-scoring students can continue to be encouraged in the future.
