Prayagraj: A new initiative is being taken by the Yogi government for street vendors under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana in the state, in which they will be identified at the district and city level and appointed as brand ambassadors.
The aim of this effort of the Yogi government is not only to empower the street vendors economically, but also to recognize their contribution to the society. Under this initiative, the ‘Swanidhi Bhi, Swabhiman Bhi’ fortnight has been launched from Monday between 18 November to 2 December 2024. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Urban Development Department to ensure active participation of street vendors and their families in this event.
Will make street vendors aware-
In accordance with the wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the PM Swanidhi Yojana by the Yogi government, members of TVC (Town Vending Committee) and active street vendors have been marked as Swanidhi Mitras, who will help other street vendors to get the benefits of the scheme. Also make them aware about the various provisions of the scheme.
Yogi government is engaged in promoting digital transactions in the state-
Yogi government is motivating street vendors for maximum digital transactions. Earlier also, street vendors have been honored in various events like Swanidhi Deepawali, Makar Sankranti Mahotsav etc., who received maximum cashback through digital medium. This step has been taken with the aim of promoting Digital India across the state and making the income of street vendors transparent.
Free health and medical facilities will be available-
During the event, free medical camps and health check-up camps will also be organized for street vendors, in which the health of them and their families will be taken care of. This initiative is part of the effort to provide health services to that section of the society, which is usually deprived of these facilities.
Swanidhi Mahotsav has been organized last year as well-
Last year on June 1 and July 7, Swanidhi Mahotsav was organized on a large scale in all the districts. Street vendors and their family members participated in the event and shared their experiences. Apart from this, cultural programs were organized during the Deepawali Mela and Makar Sankranti Mela, in which painting, slogan writing, mehndi, rangoli, dance-singing and cuisine making competitions were organized. The aim of these events was to provide a positive and empowering platform to the street vendors and their families.
Initiatives to empower them more towards self-reliance-
The steps taken by the Yogi government under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana are bringing a positive change in the lives of street vendors. They are not only getting financial assistance, but their contribution to the society is also being honored.
