Lucknow: In a proud moment for the city, students from SR Group of Institutions have brought national recognition to Lucknow by securing a top position at the prestigious BioE3 Challenge 2026 (February cycle), winning a cash award of ₹1 lakh.
The competition, organised with the support of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, the Department of Biotechnology, and BRIC, is a leading national platform that encourages young innovators to develop solutions promoting a clean, sustainable, and circular bioeconomy.
Students Mohammad Salman Khan and Shivam from SR Group Institute of Management and Technology emerged among the Top 10 winners in the D.E.S.I.G.N for BioE3 Challenge (Category 2). Competing against thousands of participants from across the country, the duo impressed judges with their innovative, solution-oriented idea.
The BioE3 Challenge witnessed widespread participation in its February 2026 edition, highlighting the scientific temperament, creativity, and social commitment of India’s young minds. The success of the SR Group students underscores the growing emphasis on research-driven education and innovation within Lucknow’s academic ecosystem.

Reacting to the achievement, Vice Chairman Piyush Singh Chauhan said the institution is committed not only to imparting education but also to nurturing ideas that can create meaningful societal impact. He noted that recognition at a national platform like BioE3 reflects the strong culture of innovation being fostered within the institution.
This accomplishment further strengthens Lucknow’s position on India’s innovation map, with institutions like SR Group playing a key role in promoting research, entrepreneurship, and forward-thinking education. As the city continues to evolve beyond traditional learning models, such achievements signal its emergence as a hub for innovation-led growth.
The winning team will now have the opportunity to scale their idea further, with eligibility to receive Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) grants of up to ₹25 lakh, enabling them to transform their concept into a real-world solution.
