Lucknow: The Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow — an institute under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India — along with the Laghu Udyog Bharti Women’s Unit, Lucknow, and the Inner Wheel Club of Trans Gomti, jointly organised a rural women entrepreneurs’ awareness programme and a free health check-up camp at the Brahma Kumaris Rajyoga Training Centre in Gulzar Upvan.
During the event, 20 beneficiaries who had completed an advanced tailoring training course for rural women run by the institute at Brahma Kumaris were presented with skill certificates by Kanchan Singh, head of the National Publicity Committee, Lucknow. She urged the women to build multiple skills in order to become financially empowered. Rita Mittal, Vice President of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Uttar Pradesh, spoke about the importance of women staying aware of their rights and of new opportunities available to them.
Anil Kumar Srivastava, Director of the institute, said the organisation is working to make young people aged 15 to 45 — particularly women — living in rural areas and urban slums self-reliant through skill training. Training programmes are being conducted under initiatives such as “Dakshata Swavalamban Samman” and “Kaushal Aapke Dwar,” with participants receiving NCVET certification through the Government of India’s SIDH portal, which supports their livelihoods.

The chief guest, Vijay Prakash, Senior General Manager of the National Small Industries Corporation Limited, provided information on beneficial schemes for MSMEs. The programme opened with a Ganesh Vandana led by Priyanka Verma, Women’s Secretary of Laghu Udyog Bharti. The event was also attended by programme officer Pannalal, assistant programme officer Neetu Yadav, computer operator Kalpana Singh, and young professional Mohammad Ali Ayan, along with around 100 other attendees.
